This is a unique basket base made of slate attached to a wood base for weaving on. The slate shows beautifully on the inside of the basket. Drilled holes in the wood part of the base for inserting the spokes or uprights. Triple twine weaving, easy reverse twill, bi-spokes, then top braid to finish off the basket. Sizes of prepared slate bases vary. Natural and dyed reeds in turquoise and gray are woven up the sides.
